From 2010 to 2012, families in Jacksonville, Florida, hosted Afghan children needing medical attention. Many families reconnected with their host children as the conditions in Afghanistan began to deteriorate. The concern for their safety and well-being gave birth to the Welcome Home Collective, Corp (WHC).

After the US withdrew from Afghanistan in 2021, WHC assisted in the relocation of a former hosted child and nine family members to Jacksonville, Florida, through SIVs—Special Immigration Visas. All ten members have completed the asylum process and are currently in school or employed full-time—forever grateful for your generosity.

Currently, the WHC is assisting another former hosted child and nine family members who are still in Afghanistan through the Humanitarian Parole process.  One of the adult sons worked for the US Military in Afghanistan and was evacuated by our forces in August 2021.  He currently resides and works in Texas.  Because of his former employment, this family is at a very high risk for extermination and must stay in hiding.

As donations allow, we assist with essential needs such as food, clothing, and medical care to keep our former hosted children and their families safe.
